Constructing Guedelon Castle

A horse-drawn cart is used to carry stones to the foot of a tower at the construction site of Guedelon castle, in a forest of Burgundy, 200 kms (125 miles) south of Paris. Stone by stone, craftsmen build a medieval-style castle with only horses to cart the rock, without power tools. It's a living history lesson and a successful tourism project: Last year, 245,000 vuisitors admired the work of Guedelon's craftsmen whose work began in 1997. If all goes well, the castle will be finished in 2023.
